About
Teresa Rodriguez
Art has been my passion ever since I can remember. I studied art at North Texas State University (now UNT). I became intimidated by the other artists and changed my field of study. I pretty much gave up my own art, feeding my craving with the art of others until 2011. I was on a trip to Fredericksburg, walking through shops and enjoying time spent with my daughters when I saw art by Eli Halpin. Her work inspired me to consider creating again. About two months later, a piece of art came to me in a dream. The subject, the technique I would use, colors even the size of the canvas. Finally, I went out and bought canvas, paint and brushes thinking I would one day get to it again. But art, as it will do, wouldn’t let me go, wouldn’t let me sleep. One night a few days after purchasing the supplies, I got up out of bed around 1:00 am and began the three paintings which would bring me again into the creativity I love.
Now, I have a studio in my home. Always set up for work. I go in there whenever I need quiet, calm or to get some piece of art out of my head and on to canvas. I can’t believe I let fear hold me back for so many years! Take that chance, do what you love.
The planet we inhabit is gorgeous. Trees, sky, hills, mountains, sunsets and sunrises. I love cloud formations. I love the colors of the sky.
I also love the abstract. Some feelings cannot be literally arranged on canvas. You have to let them out as they want. Most of my abstracts are of landscapes, some are other subjects, some pure emotion, but all come from some feeling.
Enjoy the view.
